NC Humanities - Marketing Coordinator (Hybrid Role)

Job Summary

North Carolina Humanities is growing and adding new positions! We are seeking a Marketing Coordinator that supports NCH in its efforts with marketing and communications as well as graphic design. The Marketing Coordinator uses creativity to create content for the organization’s website, emails, social media, NC Reads Program, NCH Grants Programs, and other programs sponsored by NCH.

Responsibilities

Graphic Design
  • Develop graphics and written content to promote the NCH brand and messaging.
  • Review final layouts and suggest improvements, as needed.
  • Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy and select style and size of type.
  • Create, graphs, illustrations, and other artwork as needed.
  • Prepare illustrations or rough sketches of material, discussing them with clients or supervisors and making necessary changes.
  • Maintain archive of images and copyright, photos, or previous work products through NCH’s internal database.
  • Serve as the digital content creator for the NC Reads Program by creating stories with digital content.
Marketing and Communications
  • Expand the digital presence and participation of NCH on all applicable platforms through the creation and dissemination of engaging content and generate ideas for compelling discussions and outreach.
  • Produce podcasts by compiling stories through interviews with NCH alumni, donors, Board Trustees, NCH grant recipients, program participants and program talent and scholars, etc.
  • Build relationships and increase engagement with our online community and foster a positive sentiment towards the NCH brand.
  • Prepare press releases by gathering information including media coverage, then executing material in the marketplace.
  • Prepare presentations and reports for NCH’s annual report, annual luncheon, donor meetings, private fundraising and stakeholder events, and others as needed.
  • Stay current with new SEO, social media, marketing and campaign management technologies and use effectively to promote NCH.
  • Create and distribute event marketing materials, such as invitations, promotional emails, and social media posts.
  • Research the target audience of projects.
  • Create and post both proactive and responsive content on social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram) in a timely manner.
  • Maintain public events calendar on NCH Website messaging to announce programs.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required, relevant experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience required.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit environment preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point), Adobe Acrobat, Social Media web platforms, Bloomerang and WordPress systems.
  • Prior experience managing organization’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter).
  • Possesses the knowledge to produce podcasts, including interviewing, production, and report writing.
  • Experience and interest in internal and external communications, partnership development, and fundraising preferred.
  • Experience working in the U.S. Federal government or in organizations that contract with or receive substantial Federal funding is a strong plus.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of computer technology and demonstrated database skills.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with innate creativity.
  • High level of comfort interfacing with stakeholders of all levels.
  • Willingness and proven ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point), Adobe Acrobat and InDesign, Social Media web platforms, WordPress systems, Canva, Hootsuite (nice to have), Mailchimp/ConstantContact, and website development.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively and work nights and weekends as required.
  • Ability to work in an office environment.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Occasional standing for extended periods of time.
