Position: Studio Coordinator Part-Time | $20/hour

The Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts + Culture is seeking a collaborative Studio Coordinator to help operate and support our newly launched MODA Studio (Mecca of Digital Arts)—a dynamic space designed to inspire, equip, and connect creatives of all backgrounds through digital media.
What You’ll Do
As a Studio Coordinator, you’ll support the day-to-day operations of the MODA Studio. This is a hands-on, people-facing role that involves assisting guests, maintaining equipment and supplies, and ensuring a welcoming, well-organized space for digital creation.
Schedule & Availability: This is a part-time (20–25 hrs/week) onsite role. Candidates must be available during the following hours:
- Tuesday–Friday: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Wednesday: 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- Saturday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Sunday: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Evening hours may be required for special events, or exhibitions. The team consist of 2 part-time coordinators; final schedules will be determined based on availability.
Weekend and occasional evening availability are required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and support guests of all experience levels; ensure an inclusive environment.
- Manage studio reservations and respond to booking inquiries
- Prep studio daily: light cleaning, basic A/V setup, restock supplies.
- Troubleshoot basic tech issues; escalate as needed.
- Enforce safety and studio policies.
- Track usage, equipment needs, and guest feedback.
- Collaborate with other departments to support programming, workshops, and public events.
- Represent MODA and the Gantt Center with professionalism during outreach or community events.
- Other related duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For:
We value reliability, communication, and a passion for the arts. You don’t need to check every box—just bring working knowledge of digital tools and a willingness to help others explore their creativity.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree OR equivalent experience in digital arts, media, or related field.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is essential.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Basic troubleshooting with digital equipment (e.g., cameras, tablets, audio gear).
- Strong time management and multitasking skills.
- Availability to work weekends, afternoons, and evenings as needed.
Bonus Points (Not Required):
- Experience supporting artists, youth, or community-based arts programs.
- Skills in a specific creative area (e.g., animation, video editing, illustration).
- Previous work in tech support, media assistant, or studio coordination.
