SUMMARY:Southern Circuit Film Screening: Bulls and Saints
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Charlotte Museum of History\nWhen: Thursday\, November 21 (6pm)\nWhere: Charlotte Museum of History (3500 Shamrock Dr\, Charlotte\, NC 28215)\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe proverb “The bulls throw you to the ground\, the saints lift you to the skies” rings true for Tacho Juárez and Cecilia Mendoza\, undocumented immigrants living in rural North Carolina. After fleeing Cheran\, Mexico\, as teenagers\, they settled in the U.S.\, raising two sons while organizing community fiestas to preserve their roots. Though they’ve found some stability\, their longing for home grows stronger\, and after 24 years away\, they decide to return. Bulls and Saints is a love story set between North Carolina and Cheran\, exploring reverse migration\, rebellion\, and redemption. \nThe Charlotte Museum of History will be showing Bulls and Saints as part of the Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers. Following the film\, there will be a 30-minute panel with the filmmakers and local Charlotte experts discussing immigration and preserving cultural traditions.
