DESCRIPTION:Presented by Steele Creek Community Place\nWhen: Saturday\, June 8 ( 11am – 3pm)\nWhere: Steele Creek Community Place (13501 South Tryon Street\, Charlotte\, NC 28278) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis vibrant event is the capstone of Steele Creek Celebrations: Films\, Flavors & Fun\, a dynamic program that brings the community together through culture\, cuisine\, and storytelling. \nFeatured Activities Include: \n\nLive performance by a local African-American band\nLine dancing performances for all ages\nCulinary demonstrations of global and local flavors by Javesca Coffee\nSteele Creek history presentation with historian Linda Lawless Blackwelder\nInteractive Mobile Art Studio with acclaimed artist and activist Rosalia Torres\, featuring community workshops and a screening of The Magic Kite\, a powerful film exploring the realities of immigration and family separation\n\n“The Magic Kite” reflects the lived experiences of many in our community and will serve as a powerful centerpiece for cultural dialogue and collective healing. We are honored to feature Rosalia’s work\, which invites empathy\, sparks conversation\, and uplifts voices too often unheard.
