This vibrant event is the capstone of Steele Creek Celebrations: Films, Flavors & Fun, a dynamic program that brings the community together through culture, cuisine, and storytelling.
Featured Activities Include:
- Live performance by a local African-American band
- Line dancing performances for all ages
- Culinary demonstrations of global and local flavors by Javesca Coffee
- Steele Creek history presentation with historian Linda Lawless Blackwelder
- Interactive Mobile Art Studio with acclaimed artist and activist Rosalia Torres, featuring community workshops and a screening of The Magic Kite, a powerful film exploring the realities of immigration and family separation
“The Magic Kite” reflects the lived experiences of many in our community and will serve as a powerful centerpiece for cultural dialogue and collective healing. We are honored to feature Rosalia’s work, which invites empathy, sparks conversation, and uplifts voices too often unheard.
