General summary:
We are looking for a curious, motivated and innovative content creator and strategist to be chief storyteller for the Discovery Place Museums and brand. As our head of marketing content development and social engagement, you will discover, create, source and share compelling content to delight and engage audiences, while achieving strategic positioning objectives.
Scope includes developing content strategy, building and maintaining a deep connection to our audiences, managing our organic social channels and collaborating with colleagues on the creation of content for the four Discovery Place Museums. The ideal candidate has deep experience managing social media channels and developing strategic stories in all formats.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage all Discovery Place Museum social channels, creating and scheduling all content, responding to visitor questions, and more.
- Strategize, plan, develop/collaborate and source a wide range of compelling content to support all Discovery Place marketing channels with content that meets strategic objectives. Develop written articles and blog posts, videos, photos and other digital content highlighting travelling exhibits, IMAX movies, all four Museums as well as our extensive educational offerings and philanthropic activities.
- Plan and develop content for paid social across all DP properties. Write compelling ad copy to be used in paid social ads as well as Google ads, direct video or image content, and identify target audiences/demographics. Adjust and refine copy to maximize revenue conversions.
- Collaborate extensively with peers in Marketing and other teams to develop and distribute content to achieve brand, audience and revenue objectives.
- Serve as the “voice of our customer,” developing a deep connection to our different audiences, responding to their needs and representing their interests in the development of content and across marketing and the organization.
- Utilize data and research to identify and plan for content that will appeal to key target audiences.
- Track and submit DP events to regional and local event calendars.
- Build relationships across the organization and at all Museum locations to facilitate the creation of content that is representative of Discovery Place mission and values.
Minimum qualifications:
- 5+ years’ experience managing corporate social channels and developing content.
- Must have superior writing and copy editing skills and be able to produce engaging, creative and on-brand content. Must be able to write clearly, creatively, accurately and in a style consistent with Discovery Place’s brand guidelines. Writing samples and writing demonstration are required.
- Demonstrable experience developing a range of content including video for Facebook, IG, YouTube and more. Samples required.
- Photo and video editing skills strongly preferred.
- Experience using Facebook Business Manager and other social tools.
- Must represent Discovery Place professionally in all communications including all company social media interactions and react well under pressure, always maintaining respectful and appropriate language and demeanor.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Must be able to juggle multiple projects at the same time.
- Self-directed with problem solving skills.
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends, as workflow requires.
Working Conditions: We are currently in a hybrid schedule, in the office three days a week – subject to change according to business and position needs. This is not a remote-only position.
Travel: Must have ability to travel to our four local museums regularly, with limited other travel.
