Adam Santalla Pierce Named Interim President of Arts & Science Council
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 20, 2024) – The Arts & Science Council (ASC) has named Adam Santalla Pierce interim president of ASC. Santalla Pierce has been with the local arts agency for seven years, most recently as vice president of community and artist support. He will continue to lead ASC’s grantmaking while serving in his new role. Santalla Pierce replaces Monifa Drayton, whose temporary assignment as interim ASC president concludes June 23.
“Adam is a respected leader across Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s creative sector and has extensive knowledge of ASC’s operations,” said ASC Board Chair Tony Perez. “We’re grateful to have an experienced leader of his caliber who can help guide the organization and its team.”
During Santalla Pierce’s time leading ASC grant programs, the organization more than tripled its investments in creative individuals, from $446,000 in 2021 to $1.7 million in 2022 and $1.5 million in 2023. Originally from Alexandria, Va., Santalla Pierce (he/him) worked for performing arts organizations in Washington, D.C., Virginia and North Carolina before joining ASC in 2017.
ASC’s Board of Directors is conducting a national search to find the organization’s next leader.
