Strategic Investment Grants - Inaugral Recipients
Oftentimes, arts organizations are asked to “build the plane and fly it at the same time.”
That is, the work of arts administration can sometimes take time and energy away from creating, showcasing, and investing in culture and creativity. Time and logistics aside, the financial barrier to long-term, strategic planning presents challenges for many arts institutions.
In the spirit of the Arts & Science Council’s mission to create a sustainable cultural ecosystem, ASC worked closely with Mecklenburg County and the City of Charlotte to create connection to opportunities, bridging the gap between ideation and artistic achievement for area cultural outlets.
With the development of Strategic Investment Grants, a grant opportunity generously funded by the City of Charlotte, local nonprofits can grow, sustain, and amplify their missions, all while creating access to transformative experiences for those who call the Queen City region home.
ASC is proud to honor the inaugural recipients of the Strategic Investment Grant, listed below.

Designed to provide funding to established nonprofits in Mecklenburg County with a primary mission centralized in arts, science, history, and/or heritage, SIG investments fund one-time strategic opportunities to invest in their organization’s growth and sustainability.
By investing in capacity-building initiatives, this grant recognizes that strategic investments in our cultural ecosystem are fundamental to achieving a collective community benefit.
Thanks to the support of the City of Charlotte, ASC is proud to continue directly investing in the expansion, sustainability, and diversification of Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s growing cultural ecosystem.
