Teaching Artist – Handbuilding & Wheel

Clayworks (Charlotte, NC)

Clayworks is seeking experienced ceramic teaching artists to lead multi-week handbuilding
and/or wheel-throwing classes. Classes typically run 6 or 10 weeks and serve adult beginners
through advanced levels.

Responsibilities

  • Teach engaging, well-structured multi-week classes in handbuilding and/or wheel
    throwing.
  • Demonstrate ceramic techniques clearly for a range of skill levels.
  • Support students’ technical growth and creative development.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming studio environment.
  • Manage basic setup and cleanup related to teaching.
  • Communicate class needs and issues with Clayworks staff.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in ceramic handbuilding and/or wheel throwing.
  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • Clear communication and a supportive teaching style.
  • Reliability and professionalism in a shared studio setting.

Schedule & Pay

  • Evening classes available.
  • Contract position.
