North Tryon Street Business Corridor Project & Residency
The Arts & Science Council is accepting qualifications from artists or artist teams residing in the United States for a public art opportunity along North Tryon Street which will reinforce new environmental initiatives set out for the corridor - a greenroads streetscape project and a potential urban agriculture site. During a residency at McColl Center for Visual Art, the selected artist will begin working with project team staff and area residents to develop a concept for permanent artwork to be integrated into the new North Tryon Business Corridor project. The artist will design and implement temporary public art/engagement projects during their residency to complement their permanent public art concept. Up to three finalists will be selected to develop concept proposals for this project. Each will be paid a $1,500 proposal fee. Partial funding for this project is made possible by a National Endowment for the Arts Our Town grant.
