(Charlotte, N.C.) – Teachers in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools have the opportunity to bring arts, science and history projects to life for their students thanks to a partnership between the Arts & Science Council (ASC) and DonorsChoose.org.

Individuals who donate to support arts, science and history-based projects submitted by CMS teachers at www.donorschoose.org/asc, will have their gift doubled by a dollar-for-dollar match from ASC and DonorsChoose.org.

The matching program totals $30,000 with $25,000 from ASC and $5,000 from DonorsChoose.org.

“Education and participation in the arts, science and history are vital to the development of our children,” said ASC President Scott Provancher.  “This is an innovative way for ASC to help support our dedicated teachers in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in their efforts to increase student achievement.”

“DonorsChoose.org is thrilled to partner with the Arts & Science Council in helping bring to life innovative arts, science and history projects in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools,” said DonorsChoose.org Vice President Katie Bisbee. “It is equally exciting that members of the Charlotte community can join us in this effort and double their donations www.donorschoose.org/asc.”, founded in 2000, helps improve public education by empowering every teacher to be a change-maker and by enabling any citizen to be a philanthropist.   Since the web site launched, over $46 million has been donated to bring 115,934 classroom projects to life across the U.S.
