NEA Chief to Participate in Two Public Forums in Charlotte

Rocco Landesman, chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, will participate in two free public events during a visit to Charlotte on Wednesday, March 9, 2011.

The first public event will be a “Discussion on Creativity” at 10 a.m. Wednesday at North Carolina Dance Theatre’s Patricia McBride and Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux Center for Dance, 710  N. Tryon Street. Participants will include Marcia Jones, McColl Center artist-in-residence; Dwight Rhoden, NC Dance Theatre choreographer; Rebecca Carmazzi, NC Dance Theatre principle dancer; Shaun Cassidy, McColl Center Innovation Institute teaching artist, and Lawrence Baxter, McColl Center Innovation Institute alumnus. The moderator will be Dennis Scholl of the John S. & James L. Knight Foundation

Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m., Landesman will join “Conversation -- Charlotte:  The Cultural Capital of the Southin the James B. Duke Auditorium at the Mint Museum Uptown at the Levine Center for the Arts; participants in that conversation will include Scott Provancher, president, the Arts & Science Council (ASC); Mary Regan, director, NC Arts Council, and Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx.  Moira Quinn, senior vice president of communications and COO of Charlotte Center City Partners, will moderate.
