Emerging Leaders Program
In response to a national program initiated by Americans for the Arts (AFTA), ASC developed and now manages an Emerging Leaders Program for the Charlotte area.
The program is designed for cultural professionals (staff members of arts, science and history organizations) in the Charlotte area. The program targets professionals who are under 35 years old or new to the field, generally with less than five years experience, but invites people from every age range and demographic group to participate. The only requirement is that participants have the desire to enhance their leadership capacity and the drive to develop innovative, effective and responsible management practices.

Locally, we currently hold brownbag lunch gatherings on the third Tuesday of each month at a variety of area cultural organizations.

As North Carolina’s only statewide advocacy organization, ARTS North Carolina is committed to providing hands on training for arts advocates, a greater understanding of the complexities of state funding and advocacy, and increased awareness of our opportunities and strategies to grow public support through efficient and effective communications.
North Carolina is fortunate. In our current fiscal year, the General Assembly sustained the grants programs of the North Carolina Arts Council that fund artists and organization across our state. Thirty-two other states cut their state arts funding but we held even because people who love the arts took action. But even as the economy begins to slowly recover, we will be competing for state dollars with education, health and human services, and economic development. Only strong and organized voices will be heard in the current economic climate.
Join us to learn how you can become a better advocate, not only for your personal cause/organization, but also for the overall cultural sector.
