About Education

Education and participation in the arts, science and history are vital to the development of our children and our communities. Through advocacy, research, partnerships and professional development, ASC strives to provide and secure more resources and support for education in Charlotte-Mecklenburg.

ASC views its role in education as an advocate, a funder and a voice. In these roles, the organization seeks to provide educational content and resources to serve teachers, students and other learners. Additionally, ASC actively engages in dialogue about the importance of education and how essential it is to our cultural community.

Effective July 1, 2009, ASC has absorbed ArtsTeach and is expanding both the role that ArtsTeach served – providing professional development for teachers and grants to artists and schools – and the ways that content is delivered. Included in this expansion is a broadening beyond performing and visual arts to include history and science, among other subjects. This merger will allow ASC to enhance its impact on education and the cultural community.
